Is there a communication gap?

Have the important connections in your life seem to have faded away?

I ask these questions because with technology today the important conversations in our lives seem to have taken a back-seat to the trivial.

Consider a married couple that have had a very good relationship. Then one of the spouses buys a new tech device and is in constant contact with his/her friends at all hours of the day. What kind of an impact is that having on the relationship with his/her spouse?

It is my opinion that it is having a massive impact? I say that because the communication with this new technology is usually not life-enhancing.

So what needs to be done?

  1. A person with this new technology needs to decide and understand what is important in their life.
  2. He or She needs to limit the way and the amount of use of this technology.
  3. He or She need to set aside time weekly for deeper conversation that will both enhance their life and renew their commitments.

Does this make sense?
