Why do you try to impress others?

Is it because you feel it will make you happier?

Well I hate to burst your bubble, but impressing other will not make you happier – long term. Why is that?

Number one impressing others gets tiring rather quickly. People get tired of ‘that person’ who always wants to be in the bright lights.

Number two happiness is an inside job. By that I mean if you look at your long term happiness it is all the good memories that are accumulated over the years. These good memories are usually times when nothing significant was happening and a very funny occurrence happened. Or it could have been a time when a very special loving touch happened between you and your spouse. Or it could have been a time when a crazy moment happened with your friends.

Can you go back in memory and re-live one of your happiest moments?

Wasn’t that a very special time?

It is better than constantly seeking out significance, isn’t it?
