3 Ways to Prove that You are Committed

To clarify from the start, I am not talking about ways to get you committed to a mental asylum, okay poor joke.

As we start a new year, what new ideas came to you last year that you did not take action on? What was the reason that you didn’t move forward on these or any of these causes of inspiration?

I believe that there are at least 3 ways to get committed to those inspirational ideas that pop into our minds. They are;

  • Get rid of all the other options. This is because when we see other options or have them available to us, we are always looking for those greener pastures. Those places that may be easier, and they may be more exciting. As the American actress Brie Larsen stated’ “We have to choose every day to be active participants. To wake up in the morning and choose this life and make something of it is an incredible thing. Not many living creatures have that option.”
  • Quit holding back. Why don’t you ask yourself; ‘Could I have done better today?’ Yes, many times in life we show up, but are only going through the motions or taking very small steps in working towards our objective or goal. What does that say about you? You’re right, you are not committed. Consider this quote from the Welsh athlete Geraint Thomas; “Just dream big. Go for it.”
  • Understand the reason why you are, where you are. In other words; understand the reason or the why you are doing what you are doing. If you want to find out the ‘why’, take 2 or 3 minutes and itemize the reasons for your existence in your business. And by the way it must be more than the money. It could be providing for your family. It could be to accumulate money to enjoy a pleasurable retirement. It could also be to be an example to others. Think about the meaning of this quote by Pope Paul VI; “All life demands struggle. Those who have everything given to them become lazy, selfish, and insensitive to the real values of life. The very striving and hard work that we so constantly try to avoid is the major building block in the person we are today.”

To conclude, I want you to think a little deeper than usual. I want you to answer this question; ‘How much more committed can I be, this year?’
