4 Ways to Improve our Society (Part 2)

In Part 1, I addressed what humans are capable of and how politicians ignore scientific truth all for the sake of getting votes. These leaders are gutless individuals who are swayed by the ‘latest’ trend and care nothing about the ramifications down the road. By going down the ‘identity politics’ hole, we get other examples from an article from a few months ago. It appears that Naia Okami a 27-year-old Seattle woman, wants to be called “wolf girl.” This is because she spiritually and psychologically identifies as a British Columbia wolf.

It appears that a society that perpetuates a lie (like this example), is beginning the down-hill slide toward oblivion. You may wonder why I state this. It is because when a person identifies as something they are not, they need our sympathy and help in overcoming thoughts that cannot be justified.

Again, according to the American Psychological Association, issues may deserve consideration or attention if:

  • The problem takes up considerable time.
  • You are rearranging your lifestyle to accommodate the problem.

Now consider the 27-year-old Seattle woman, let’s look at the situation. Is her so-called identity taking up a considerable amount of time in her life? Yes, absolutely? Is she rearranging her lifestyle to accommodate her issue/problem? Again, the answer is yes!

The concern for me is that she needs help. She, like many other adults are hindering their growth as people, as human beings. This is because of their obsession of buying into their ‘new identity’, and not thinking through their decisions, or being unable to process what they are doing to themselves.

We must remember that “Adulthood is a period of optimum mental functioning when the individual’s intellectual, emotional, and social capabilities are at their peak to meet the demands of career, marriage, and children.” according to britannica.com

According to Harry C. Triandis (Professor Emeritus at the Department of Psychology of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign; “Individualism is a social pattern that consists of loosely linked individuals who view themselves as independent of collectives”. And that is the reason why the problems we have in this world exist. It is because when you set yourself as an independent whether in attitude or by some label that you’ve assigned yourself, you are separating yourself from the rest of humanity.

Have you noticed that our politicians are making decisions for us that are truly dividing us even more?

In fact, many people in our society appear to have decided that integrity is a losing proposition. We need to push back on this. In order to do that I believe we need ways of looking at improving our society as individuals. Here are 4 ways at improving our society;

  • Recognize that individualism drives people apart.
  • Understand that a human being is not just something, but someone.
  • As electors we need to examine those running for office in more detail, because if we don’t, elections become a beauty contest with us paying for the cosmetics.
  • There needs to be necessary limits on government intervention in what they say that humans can and cannot do. This is because history has shown that the majority of politicians have no understanding of what humanity is and what it needs to flourish.
