Are you a micro-manager?
Being this type of a manager can be a real pain to those that work with you can’t it?
So why do we do it? Let me give you a few thoughts about why we micro-manage;
• You are bored and have nothing else to do?
• You believe you are the only one who can do it right.
• You believe that as a manager that is what you are paid to do.
In the 1989 book “On Becoming a Leader” by Warren Bennis; he composed a list of the differences between a manager and a leader. Here is the one difference that hits home with this situation; a manager administers; the leader innovates. So if you look at those above three thoughts, do you think that they are administrative duties? If not, change your actions for the good of your organization.
In order to become a true leader you need to learn to trust others. By trusting them you can build a wonderful team.
Would today be a good day to start this?
