How committed are you?
Or, should you be committed?
Okay sorry for the poor joke. I know that anyone reading my blog is not a dummy or that they should be committed. The commitment I am talking about is in many areas of your life, from your relationships, to a hobbies, to your work.
My friend Jim (a former school administrator and now university professor) believes that if you speak from a position of authority, are committed to an idea, and engineer it with passion; the most pronounced opposition will remain speechless. Doesn’t this describe a person totally committed?
Yes, I know we live in a world where many people are afraid of hurting someone’s feelings or taking a stand. Come on people, if we continue to sit back and be soft with no enthusiasm for anything; the world will either leave us behind or crush us.
So what are my suggestions for you? They will come in a question form;
- Do you remember what it was like when you were a child and really enjoyed a particular part of your life?
- Do you remember how your voice elevated with passion when you used to describe what you were doing to others?
- Do you remember how many people used to enjoy it with you?
- Why does it have to be different today?
- What can you do today that will bring more passion into your life?
