Is money everything when it comes to life?
Or has our society made it seem that way?
Tom Brokaw (the former T.V. news announcer in the U.S.) once said “It’s easy to make a buck. It’s a lot tougher to make a difference.”
It is my belief that if we are making a positive difference we are doing what we were created to do. Let’s look at a two people who have made a difference.
- Rick Hansen – As a young man Rick wanted to represent Canada at the Olympics someday. Sadly at age 15, he lost the use of his legs in a car accident. His positive attitude allowed him to stay involved in sports and he became the first person with a disability to graduate with a degree in Physical Education at UBC. Rick started and completed his epic journey ‘The Man in Motion Tour’ and later established the Rick Hansen Foundation, continuing his mission to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
- Ron Dumas – is the founder of Reaching Out for Kids. It is my understanding that they offer a free summer golf clinic that teaches children important lessons. These lessons include the significance of maintaining a positive attitude, making decisions while reflecting on the consequences, setting goals, and transferring values such as integrity, honesty, respect, confidence and sportsmanship from the golf course to everyday life.
