Is risk a bad word?

Why could risk taking feel bad for a person?

It is because you have a fixed mind-set and don’t like things happening that are out of the ordinary. I hope this is not your attitude, but if it is your way of operating let me give you a few comments as to why you avoid risk and are living with a fixed mind-set.

You might have a fixed mind-set if;

  • You try to avoid challenges.
  • You give up easily when obstacles are put in your way.
  • You hate criticism as you believe what you do is always right.

Did you answer ‘yes’ to at least one of those statements? If you did it is time for a make-over. Why do you do those things? It is because you have a desire to look smart and you’ve started to plateau in life.

Why does this concern me?

It is because if you are acting this way you are achieving less than your potential.

Is that what you really want?

How is that affecting your business?

  1. I saw your post earlier, but did not risk trying to comment as my internet connection has been intermittent for days.

    Most of my life I lived in a part of the world where stepping out the door was a risk, so perhaps I am less scared of taking a risk than most. I have taken some huge ones, some that exposed me to physical danger some to financial disaster.

    Most paid off, the ones that didn’t did not kill me. I learned from all of them.

    Without risk of some sort even if it is just risking minor discomfort, there can be no progress.

    Of course there is a difference between foolish and calculated risk. That difference will vary for each individual.
