What does it mean to become human?

Have I confused you by this question?

This blog idea is taken from the book by Jean Vanier; ‘Becoming Human’. No you are not human just because you are born of two parents that are human. In the book Mr. Vanier explores what it takes to become human. In the introduction he states “human maturity comes as we begin to bring our heads and our hearts together.”

So what does it take to bring our heads and our hearts together?

Does this need to happen in the world of work?

I think it does for one particular reason. If we are not concerned about each other in the work place, how can we be caring people outside the workplace?

In our modern world we tend to think mainly about progress and perfection. I don’t know about you, but I am far from perfect. And no it doesn’t take my spouse Debbie to tell me that. I have a conscience and thankfully it makes me aware of my shortcomings.

How does that happen?

Everyday I try to go into the ‘classroom of silence’ to understand where I am and where I am going. If there has been a bump in the road, my conscience will let me know.

What are you going to do today to become human?
