What Does It Take to Achieve Your Goals
What’s the one thing you really want to improve on now?
Will it stretch you in your abilities? I hope so! I state that because if it doesn’t stretch you or cause you to go beyond your regular actions, I wonder if you really want improvement or are just accepting mediocrity.
To me stretching is the way to get out of my shell to move to a newer level in my development. I believe that because if I don’t move to a newer level in my development, I am accepting mediocrity. Which according to Miriam Webster’s mediocrity is averageness, acceptability or normalness.
I know that with all of the competition ‘out there’ averageness, acceptability or normalness is not going to draw flies. Yes, you have to be more than what people even expect. You have to also give them more than what they expect.
So, taking that into consideration, I ask you this question again; What’s the one thing you really want to improve on now? What is one action that will transform your organization from what it is today, to what you’ve always wanted it to be.
I hope you have this clear in your mind, so that we can move onto the steps I believe you need to follow. They are as follows;
- Form a mindset that helps you become focused and driven. You must believe in what you are trying to accomplish. And it must be well-defined, and causes you to become more than you are today. In other words, it has to stretch you.
- Define what you need. As you know ‘Rome was not built in a day.’ And I must add that Rome was not built by one person. The more you become more receptive to the idea of a ‘structure of support’, the better things will work for you. I state that because there is not one person on this good Earth that knows it all and can do it all. For example; you might need any or all of the following;
- emotional support,
- providing resources,
- mentorship,
- delegation, and
- fostering a collaborative environment.
- Determine who fits the bill. Once you determine what you need (step 2) you need to begin the process of getting the right people, resources and environment in place. As you become more aware and grateful of the support of others, you also become more mindful of how well you offer your support to others. In doing so, we help ourselves and others tap more deeply into the beauty of optimistic, beneficial, and genuine human connections.
To conclude, I would suspect that you might have not thought of these steps before, or failed to follow-through on one or two of the steps. If you’d like to take your organization to the next level, give me a call at 519-539-2267 so that we can discuss what the possibilities are.
