Are you driven by ambition?
Is this helping you and your overall well-being?
Yes, I will admit that at one time in my life I was a over-the-moon driven person. I will also admit that there were times when I was determined to accomplish particular goals. I will also admit that luckily for me I did not lose sight of the big picture. For me the big picture was my family.
Let me give you the best example in my life. I started my first business when I was 26 years old, it was a manufacturing business. It took about 3 years for the money to really start flowing in and needless to say I was very pleased with the results. The best example was the year that my older daughter became 12 years old that it hit me hard that I had missed out on much of the excitement of being a big part of my daughter’s life. It had so much of an effect on me that I decided to sell the business and move on. Yes, I will admit that we had grown the business just over 600% in the 12 years but I realized that money wasn’t everything.
Why did I tell you this story?
I just wanted to give you an example how the events in our lives can bring us down to reality. To show us that ambition can be looked at in many ways.
I’ll close off by asking you these questions;
- What are the moments of ambition in your life that you most value?
- Are these things temporary or long-lasting?
