Could you be a happier person?
Can you make yourself happier?
Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky is a psychology professor at the University of California – Riverside campus. The majority of her research career has been devoted to studying human happiness. She believes that the scientific study of happiness is important because most people believe happiness is meaningful, desirable, and an important worthy goal. Her current research addresses three critical questions;
1) What makes people happy?
2) Is happiness a good thing?
3) How can we make people happier still?
The breakthrough in Dr. Lyubomirsky’s research is that you can make yourself happier – permanently. Dr. Lyubomirsky and others have found that our genetic set point is responsible for only about 50 percent of our happiness, life circumstances affect about 10 percent, and a whopping 40 percent is completely up to us. The large portion of your happiness that you control is determined by your habits, attitude, and outlook on life.
So what can you do today to improve your happiness?
Which habit can you improve?
Is there an attitude that you can change?
How can you improve your outlook on life?
There is a better way to live isn’t there?
