Do you know what it means to have a great personal connection with someone?
Has it ever occurred to you that this type of a connection can bring a sense of happiness that most people never experience?
Last weekend I had the opportunity to re-connect with a man who I first met in the 1980’s. We took part in an industry education experience all those years ago. Over the years that I was in that industry we always had good time together through the learning and the sharing of common interests.
Last weekend Don and I spoke at the same convention. Don Calhoun has co-authored a book called ‘Dance with the Elephant’. It is a book you should investigate further. Now let me get back to the objective of this blog. During the few hours that Don and I spent together I realized it was not just our shared learning and the sharing common interests from years ago, it was more than that. I believe it was because of our shared beliefs in the value of life and the possibilities each one of us have in making a difference in our own world.
What does this mean for you? It means that if you want to have the type of connections that create a fulfilling life, you need to connect with others on a deeper level. You need to know and understand what makes them tick. You need to ignore the trivial and focus on what really matters in their lives.
What can you do today that will create closer relationships with those that matter to you?
Who are those relationships?
Could they be your spouse, your children or what about your clients?
