Does your life have real meaning?

Are you so focused on that meaning that you bounce out of bed every morning ready to take action?

Over this past week I came across a song from the early 1970’s. It was a song by Steely Dan called ‘Reelin’ in the Years’. The lyrics made me think about life and decisions I made that may not have been what I should have done. This is not about me having regret! It is me understanding that every decision you and I make has consequences. So here are some of the lyrics;

“Your everlasting summer, you can see it fading fast

So you grab a piece of something that you think is gonna last

Well, you wouldn’t even know a diamond if you held it in your hand

The things you think are precious, I can’t understand

Are you reelin’ in the years?

Stowin’ away the time

Are you gatherin’ up the tears?

Have you had enough of mine?

Are you reelin’ in the years?

Stowin’ away the time

Are you gatherin’ up the tears?

Have you had enough of mine?

You been tellin’ me you’re a genius since you were seventeen

In all the time I’ve known you, I still don’t know what you mean

The weekend in the college didn’t turn out like you planned

The things that pass for knowledge, I can’t understand”

Life passes very fast and you have the ability to do so much good for the world. Don’t waste the opportunity that you’ve been given.

What is one thing that you can do today that will give your life more meaning?

What is one action that you can take today that will move you in the direction of that life?
