Is your business so good that it will last forever?

I hope you consider this question on a deeper level.

I state that because you never know when your business will have to shut down. Sadly it can be beyond your control. Take for example the company Hostess the maker of the famous ‘Twinkies’. I am a free-enterpriser and it boggles my mind that Hostess is shutting down the company and selling off the assets because of a strike. This is after the company offered to give the labor union a 25% ownership share in the company as a concession, but the offer was not accepted by the union.

In other words the union did not believe in the future of the company. So I agree with Hostess that if the union does not see a future for the company, why have the union members work for you? Why be in business with these people?

So the bottom line for me is;
• Be careful about who you are hiring.
• Treat your employees with respect.

Doesn’t this make sense?
