Is your life is defined by principles?

Are you wondering what principles are?

It is my belief that a principle is a fundamental truth that serves as the foundation for a system of beliefs. These beliefs govern a person’s behavior.

I will give you an example from John Wooden. Who was John Wooden? Mr. Wooden was named ESPN’s coach of the twentieth century. To truly grasp how successful he was consider the following accomplishments:
• 4 full seasons with no defeats
• 88 consecutive wins (the longest winning streak in U.S. college basketball)
• 10 NCAA championships, including seven in a row (an all-time record)

John Wooden called his fundamental truths or principles his ‘building blocks for success’. They were:
• Industriousness
• Enthusiasm
• Friendship
• Loyalty
• Cooperation
• Self-control
• Alertness
• Initiative
• Intentness
• Condition
• Skill
• Team Spirit
• Poise
• Confidence
• Competitive Greatness

When you view Mr. Wooden’s accomplishments and his principles, doesn’t it make sense to create list of principles that will govern your behavior?
