What is it that you want?

What is it that you really want?

Recently I read the following quote from Thomas Merton, it made me stop and ponder the above questions. “Why do we spend our lives striving to be something we would never want to be, if we only knew what we wanted? Why do we waste our times doing things, which, if we only stopped to think about them, are the opposite of what we were made for?”

The question becomes what are we made for? While I can’t tell you your answer to that question I know that each and everyone of us are made for bigger things that we are doing now. Why do I say that? It is because I believe that we’ve bought into becoming mediocre in our lives. Many people are more interested in watching how the ‘celebrities’ are living their lives than trying to create a life of our own.

To conclude I am going to ask you a few questions;

  • What is one action that you could do today that would stretch your abilities?
  • If you knew you could not fail, what would you do?
  • What is stopping you beside your comfort with being mediocre or second-rate?
