What is unconditional joy?

Is this unconditional joy even possible?

Recently I read an article that was excerpted from the book ‘Breaking Into Joy’ by Anne Costa. I was enthralled by the article because it spoke about spirituality in a way that appears to be different than some of what I’ve read.

The article stated; “If you are looking for a worthy spiritual goal, let it be to experience unconditional joy, a joy that transcends and covers all, a joy that scales the heights and plumbs the depths and remains steadfast and true.”

Now let’s look at this with a bit more depth.

What is a joy that transcends and covers all? To me it is a joy that is not affected by the happenings of life. To me this is a joy that is not affected by the ups and downs of life. A question; why should we and our joyous feelings be affected by the good times and the bad times?

Shouldn’t we just be joyous that we have life and all the benefits that we have because we are alive?

How can we find that joy that scales the heights and plumbs the depths? Do you think that we need to look at life a bit differently than we are doing now?

How can we find a joy that remains steadfast and true? Wouldn’t it make sense to look at the way we are evaluating the situations in our life? And if these situations give you the extremes; do you think it is time to alter your attitude to cushion the impact of the highs and the lows?
