Why do some people see asking for help as discouraging – part 2
In reason 2 of this series called ‘Why do some people see asking for help as discouraging’; I want to look at why ‘they’ are afraid of admitting that they don’t know it all. I know it is a good idea to look at this thought differently. It is all about admitting how we at times let our habits control our lives. Yes, we need to admit that sometimes those habits are not serving us kindly. We all need to build some resilience muscles, that is to resist the urge to fall back into habits that don’t serve us long-term.
Let me take you back to when you were a child going into preschool or kindergarten. Did you know it all? Did you have all the answers, all the time? Of course not!
So why have we gone from being interested in learning from others to being afraid to admitting that we don’t know it all?
I will quote Robert Kiyosaki (American businessman and author). Kiyosaki is the founder of Rich Global LLC and the Rich Dad Company, a private financial education company that provides personal finance and business education to people. He said; “One of the biggest defects in life is the inability to ask for help.”
This is very interesting, a very successful person, and he has never had a problem asking for help. Thought-provoking isn’t it?
